Vieques Chapter One: The Little Plane

It was a very little plane.

It was mid afternoon and it had been a very long day of travel. There had already been two plane flights and as we walked across the tarmac to board I found myself surprisingly unconcerned at how Rey would handle it.

The pilot asked everyone their weight again, and seated Carolyn at front right and Rey across the aisle to her left behind the pilot. I was seated behind Rey. He looked fascinated. There was a family seated towards the back, similarly distributed for optimum balance. Soon, we took off.

Rey gazed out the window like the most seasoned world traveler.

To me the plane felt just a little bit small and light to really be flying. "Ok", I decided to myself, this is just a movie, and all I have to do is suspend my disbelief and the plane should be able to stay up on the simple presumption that, supposedly, it can do this seemingly physically impossible thing.

Rey continued to gaze out the window with an intense detachment mixed with mild fascination.

He was still holding his Spiderman action figure. This was calming to me.

Rey prepares to start the show by practicing his newest trick. Standing on the pedals of his tricycle and concentrating hard, he starts rolling...

Suddenly, he notices his audience.

And begins to ham it up.

And then, the world's biggest ham lets it fly. What a face!

Lets hear it for The Stunt Rider!

Making Biscuits

As always, click to enlarge photo...

Our Chef in training.

From the very start, Rey always said yes when asked to help with cooking and baking. I think his interest prompted Carolyn to do more baking. The upshot is that I eat allot of biscuits, muffins and cookies.

I hope it means that Rey will be interested in cooking when he gets older. We'll see.
